July 8, 2019

Access Health Louisiana announced that is giving away 2,400 backpacks and school supplies to children in the metro New Orleans area this month. The non-profit is holding its annual “Supplies for Success” events thanks to its sponsors Healthy Blue Louisiana and Louisiana Healthcare Connections.

Four events will be held during the month of July. Backpacks will be given out on Friday, July 19 at the Tangipahoa Community Health Center in Hammond from 1-2:30 pm; Saturday, July 20 at the Washington Community Health Center in Bogalusa from 9-10:30 am; Friday, July 26 at the St. Bernard Community Health Center in Chalmette from 1-2:30 pm; and on Saturday, July 27 at the Kenner Community Health Center from 10-11:30 am.

School supplies will be given out to children at all locations while supplies last. One backpack per child and children must be present with their parent or guardian to receive their free supplies. Every parent with a child will be asked to fill out a brief registration form to receive the free backpack.

In addition to free giveaways, there will be free health screenings for adults, as well as giveaways from our community partner groups.

Free backpacks will be given out to children coming in for well visits at other Access Health Louisiana community health center locations (not holding formal events) during the week of August 5-9.
