FRIDAY, MAY 12

Movies in the Park: The Jungle Book (2016), Lakeview Playground. Rain site: Gernon Brown Rec Center. The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission offers family-friendly, outdoor movie screenings at NORDC parks and playgrounds across the city. Free. StoryQuest: Boats, New Orleans Museum of Art. Professional authors, actors and artists bring the world of children’s literature to NOMA in this family program. National Train Day Open House, Crescent City Model Railroad Club, 701 N. Lester Ave., Metairie. Visit this tribute to the evolution to the Iron Horse, from early steam locomotives to modern diesel locomotives running on the Crescent Lines. SUNDAY, MAY 14

Mother’s Day Celebration, Audubon Zoo. On the second Sunday in May each year, mothers of all ages get complimentary admission into the zoo on Mother’s Day. Free. 10 am-5 pm.
