Latte

This morning jolt seems to be the most requested of baristas (it’s the one with the fancy artwork swirled on top). Pure and simple, a regular latte is simply a shot of espresso with steamed milk and milk foam. Practice and you might be able to get that heart swirl right!

No espresso machine at home? Click here to learn how to make a latte without one.

Kid Coffee?

If you grew up in New Orleans, odds are good you drank “coffee milk” as a child – a less potent latte made with regular brewed coffee instead of espresso.

Revert to childhood, or make this for the kids, by mixing ¼ cup warm milk to 1 tablespoon brewed coffee. Add sugar (or flavored syrup) to taste.

Coffee Flavorings
Homemade syrups are a spot-on way to change up your coffee routine. These also are super easy to make and cost a fraction of store-bought flavors.

Vanilla Syrup

The first syrup to master is Vanilla Syrup; it makes delicious additions to hot and cold coffees and hot chocolate. You can also use this syrup to “paint” or soak onto cake layers before frosting them.

Learn how to make it by clicking here.

Caffé Mocha

Also called the Mochaccino, this rich fave is made with a shot of strong-brewed coffee or espresso, hot milk, and chocolate syrup.

This chocolate syrup recipe is made with only water, sugar, unsweetened cocoa, and pure vanilla extract – you’ve got that, right? Learn to make homemade chocolate syrup here.

Mocha Freeze

The Mocha Freeze is worth the pilgrimage to Camellia Grill even if theirs doesn’t have coffee in it. Make your caffeinated version of this rich ice cream drink with a shot of cool brew coffee, chocolate syrup, ice, and either chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

Whoa! That’s what we call breakfast! Learn to make a mocha freeze by clicking here.
