2024 Faces of NOLA Family

2024 The Face of Obstetrics and Gynecology

At Tulane Women’s Services, the obstetricians and gynecologists are dedicated to providing individuals with the best, most comprehensive care, from adolescence to menopause, and all stages in between. With their main clinical home at Tulane Lakeside, and two additional offices Uptown and Downtown, these doctors are continuously leaning on one another to heal their patients and educate themselves in the name of medicinal evolution.

“We are aware of the needs and disparities of our patient population,” says Dr. Elizabeth Kelly. “We take a patient-centered approach to appointments because we know each patient is different.”

Individuals in need of specialist referrals won’t have to look far; the doctors are easily able to refer patients to colleagues within the three offices. Their subspecialty referrals include gynecologic oncology, family planning, maternal-fetal medicine, female pelvic medicine, and other medical conditions. New patients visiting the Lakeside clinic will be met by an all-female team, including Dr. Pratibha Rayapati, Dr. Amy Vaughan, Dr. Amy Grace, and Dr. Elizabeth Kelly. In this building, patients will also find several other providers with years of experience who cater to a large portion of the greater New Orleans population. Many of these physicians, including Dr. Eduardo Herrara and Dr. Yuri Simonian, are also multilingual, speaking languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Italian, Armenian, Arabic, and Romanian. Dr. Samuel Alexander offers vNOTES procedures, which are advanced, minimally-invasive surgeries that combine the benefits of laparoscopic and vaginal approaches to the traditional hysterectomy. Several of the gynecologists also offer a variety of robotic procedures. Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery results in less pain, discomfort, and scarring.

Dr. Janifer Tropez-Martin and Dr. Amber Naresh see patients in the Uptown Square clinic, which is convenient for those who live or work Uptown. Whichever clinic you decide to visit, you are sure to be in good hands no matter what.

Tulane is first and foremost a medical school, so these doctors practice academic medicine, and not only do they educate others, but they are continuously furthering their education and training to stay on top of the most sophisticated, evidence-based treatment options. With future goals to grow their team, stay on the lookout as the group is expanding to the Northshore and Lakeview Regional Medical Center with services from Dr. Heather Barnes.
